Finally! A dorm of your own! When you arrive at the student housing with your entire moving load, everything should go as smoothly as possible.
Here is our best tips to you on the day of moving in:
Haven't downloaded the Student Sørøst app yet? Do it now. If you are a resident, the app has a number of services matched to your tenancy.
NB! Remember to use the same e-mail address that you used when you submitted the housing application / created a My page account on ssn.no, when you create a user in the app. You will not get information about your tenancy if you give a different e-mail address.
🔑 My key card: many dorms and apartments have key cards instead of keys. In the app (and on My page via ssn.no) you who get a key card can open the door with a few simple taps. If you have agreed that your key card will be delivered to your room, you need to lock yourself in electronically - and then the app is nice to have!
💻 My internet: maybe the most important of it all?! Find information about the network where you live and restart the router if necessary. Internet is a free additional service.
👨🏽🔧 My tenancy: Here you will find contact information for your welfare host, you will find your invoices, in some places you can apply for rent of a storage room or parking space and you can report errors / defects in your dorm/apartment to the janitor.
🧺 appWash: If there is a shared laundry room at the student residence, you will probably have to download another app - appWash by Miele. With this app, you control payment and start the laundry, and you will be notified when the machine is ready.
Information about what kind of laundry solution there is in your student housing and where the laundry is, you can find by choosing the property you are going to live in under Our student housing and click on Shared laundry room.
If you or someone in your place is to physically collect the key at your nearest SSN campus office, you can do so from 1 pm on the day your contract starts. Find out where to pick up the key and check the opening hours (most SSN campus offices close at 2 pm, but on days when many students move in, the opening hours are often extended).
Pick up key/key cardYou can ask about everything possible at the SSN campus office, feel free to drop by even if you have received the key card in the room!
Find your SSN campus officeDo you have trouble locking yourself in despite the fact that you are logged in to My page in the app or via mobile or desktop on ssn.no, or does the key / key card you have retrieved not work?
Until 10 pm, the welfare host can lock you in.
You will find contact information for your welfare host on My page or under the Student housing service and My tenancy in the app.
The welfare host can help with many other things than locking you in - ask about everything you are wondering about regarding your new home or the campus!
SSN's office on your campus can help you with a key / key card during opening hours.
Our cleaners and janitors do their utmost to ensure that your unit is ready to move into when you arrive, but sometimes new residents may still find that they will report faults or deficiencies in the dorm or apartment they move into.
We greatly appreciate that you report faults or deficiencies as soon as possible on My page, via the app or on mobile / desktop. If it is completely precarious that the error / defect is corrected before you can move in, we want you to contact our switchboard, which will point you to the correct caretaker where you are.
Read up on information about the student housing at Our student housing, here you will find information about everything from the internet, common rooms, where you can park and much more. Google is your friend, use the map to find the nearest grocery store, cafe and beach 🤗
