About the building:

Sentrum Notodden Student housing is, as the name suggests, in the city centre, more specifically in traditional Storgata 58. There are a total of 54 dorms and apartments spread over four floors, a cozy common room, free laundry room and a café!

The building includes these housing types:

All dorms/single units and apartments have a hob in the kitchen and no oven, but everyone can use the two ovens in the common room.

Are you searching for short-term rental?

At Notodden it is possible to rent a dorm while you are at a gathering. Sentrum Notodden is not listed under short-term rentals in our housing selector, but we do have some dorms with private bathrooms and kitchens available here, so add Høgås to your application and write under Additional information that you want Sentrum Notodden.

These short-term rent dorms do NOT include duvets, pillows or kitchenware.

Practical information about Sentrum Notodden Studentboliger:

Sentrum Notodden Student housing is located approximately 1,6 km from campus, and it takes about 20-25 minutes to walk to the university. Read more about Campus Notodden at USN. 

There are no outdoor areas belonging to the property.

There are no parking spaces in connection to the building, but there is plenty of street parking in the area, and there are other options for paid parking nearby.

All residents have access to a common laundry room with free use of a washing machine and tumble dryer.

There are no storage rooms available for residents in the building.

There is an hourly bus connection from the city center to the campus, with buses that run twice an hour from the nearest bus stop, which is Holtas plass (about 14 minutes to the campus).

You can both travel by bus and train to Notodden.

Waste sorting is located at the back of the building. Remember to recycle!

Electricity

The property has electricity as an energy source. Electricity is included in the rent.

☀️ There is no cooling installed on the property and in the summer months it can get hot inside if it is hot outside.

Cable in router

Internet via cable


A router from SSN has been placed in your apartment. To use a wired connection, you must connect the device you wish to use through this.

We recommend that you use network cables of the standard cat5e or newer.

Priv-ssid: Private wireless network

Private WiFi

SSID and password for your personal wireless network can be found under the internet tab on My page.

SSN external

This wireless network is reserved for tenants who do not have an account to use eduroam. If you are not a student or employee at USN you will find the password under the Internet tab on my page.

WiFi: Eduroam

This is the same wireless network that you will find on campus (in addition to a number of other locations). To log in to eduroam, you must use your student account ([email protected] + password). You obtain your student account from the university at the start of studies. More information about student accounts can be found on the USN website.


Eduroam uses wpa-enterprise for authentication. This means you need both a username and password to log in. Many devices such as smart TV, Chromecast, Apple TV and gaming consoles do not support this and therefore cannot be used on Eduroam.

Physical key retrieved from the SSN campus office

You will receive a physical key, which you must pick up at SSN's campus office. The key is ready from 1 pm on the day your contract starts.



Subject to errors in inventory. In addition, some inventory may apply to common areas and not the individual unit.

All keys and key cards must be delivered by 10 am on the last day of the contract.

The housing unit must be ready for handover (emptied, cleared and cleaned).

You can either deliver the key in the service office or in one of our dropboxes.
