Many are currently waiting for a response on their housing application and new applicants will come last in line. But - it is still possible to get student housing!
Most applicants who applied early have now received an offer for student housing, but we know that there are still many of you waiting for a response. Our housing department is working hard to find solutions for as many as possible on the waiting list.
SSN has allocated 1095 student housing units between 1 May and 1 August this year.
As of 1 August, there are a total of 383 students on the waiting list at SSN.
Campus | Number of students in queue 1.8.24 | Allocated housing 1.5-1.8.24 |
---|---|---|
Bø | 9 | 274 |
Drammen | 31 | 134 |
Kongsberg | 79 | 129 |
Notodden | 1 | 97 |
Porsgrunn | 12 | 129 |
Rauland | 0 | 24 |
Ringerike | 181 | 51 |
Vestfold | 70 | 257 |
The deadline for rejecting the accommodation if you did not get into the study program was July 31, so after this date the waiting lists may look different. After the start of the semester, there are usually students who regret their choice of study, drop out, and want to terminate their student housing contract. Therefore, if possible, it may be wise to have some patience.

You can at any time add more options to your application (different types of rooms/apartments, different residential areas), as this increases the chance of us finding something for you than if you only have one option.
Check off that you want to receive offers for other alternatives than your favorites.
You can change your housing later, so it's smart to accept the offer you receive, even if it wasn't your first or second choice.
Remember to extend your application if it has been 60 days since you applied and you still have not been allocated housing.

If you are going to study in Telemark and need housing, there is a possibility of getting student accommodation if you hurry to submit an application. It is also not entirely impossible in Drammen, so submit an application today!

At the student housing in Vestfold and Kongsberg, there are moderate queues. In Ringerike, unfortunately, there is a long waiting list, which means that new applicants will have very limited opportunities to get student housing this semester. In Ringerike, we therefore recommend checking the private rental market, for example on finn.no or hybel.no.
SSN has been trying to build more student housing in Ringerike for a long time and the situation is regrettable. 163 new apartments are planned and grants have been given, but returned because the county municipality did not approve the necessary measures of the municipality to improve the infrastructure of the building site with a new road junction.
