About the buildings:

The residential area consists of a total of 14 houses built in 1997 and 1999.

  • Currently, only one of the houses is available for regular rent, with six dormitories where two and two share a kitchen and bathroom, as well as one apartment.
  • Short-term rental: 48 dormitories where two and two share a kitchen and bathroom are available for short-term rental to students on group-based studies at Notodden. Read more about short-term rent. 
  • The houses contain a common living room, and also have a common laundry room with free use of a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Six of the houses are currently relieving Notodden Municipality of housing refugees from Ukraine.

Practical info about Høgås:

Take a minute and read about fire safety and the fire alarm system at Høgås student accommodation. 

Høgås student village is located about a 15-minute walk from the University. Read more about Campus Notodden at USN. 

The student village is located in a picturesque area, and has a wonderful view of the town. Feel free to use any outdoor furniture.

Parking is free of charge and available nearby the student accommodation. There is bicycle parking in lockable stalls. Remember privat bicycle lock to avoid theft of your bike!

All residents have access to common laundry rooms. Use of washing machines and tumble driers is free of charge. House 15 and 17 does not have a laundry room, the remaining buildings do.

One storage room in each house.

Waste stations located in the parking lot next to the outbuilding, and beside building no. 31. Remember to recycle!

Electricity

The property has electricity as an energy source. Electricity is included in the rent.

Think of the environment - help us saving energy! 

☀️ There is no cooling installed on the property and in the summer months it can get hot inside if it is hot outside.

Cable in wall 802.1x - one port

Internet via cable


To use a wired connection, you can connect your device directly to the wall socket. Authentication (login) is also required to activate the internet. You must log in with your student account ([email protected] + password). See this guide for the procedure for Windows 10.

You obtain your student account from the university at the start of studies. More information about student accounts can be found on the USN website for IT-services.

To connect several devices to the internet at the same time, a switch must be used. The tenant must obtain this him or herself. See this guide for the procedure.

SSN external

This wireless network is reserved for tenants who do not have an account to use eduroam. If you are not a student or employee at USN you will find the password under the Internet tab on my page.

USN-guest

This is the guest network for USN. When you connect to this you will see guidance on how to register for 12 hours access.

WiFi: Eduroam

This is the same wireless network that you will find on campus (in addition to a number of other locations). To log in to eduroam, you must use your student account ([email protected] + password). You obtain your student account from the university at the start of studies. More information about student accounts can be found on the USN website.


Eduroam uses wpa-enterprise for authentication. This means you need both a username and password to log in. Many devices such as smart TV, Chromecast, Apple TV and gaming consoles do not support this and therefore cannot be used on Eduroam.

WiFi only in public areas

These wireless networks are only available in public areas (kitchen/lounge/hallway).

Physical key retrieved from the SSN campus office

You will receive a physical key, which you must pick up at SSN's campus office. The key is ready from 1 pm on the day your contract starts.



Subject to errors in inventory. In addition, some inventory may apply to common areas and not the individual unit.

All keys and key cards must be delivered by 10 am on the last day of the contract.

The housing unit must be ready for handover (emptied, cleared and cleaned).

You can either deliver the key in the service office or in one of our dropboxes.
